Aging in NYC: Improving Resources for Older Adults

This thesis explores the challenges older adults face while finding transportation and navigating NYC. I focused on improving transportation access for older adults living in the Lower East Side, which is a neighborhood that is disproportionately affected by transportation barriers and experience high rates of older adult poverty in NYC. Collaborating with the older adults in this community allowed me to identify their transportation challenges and prioritize essential resources. Using the ‘Aging in Place’ mobile application, older adults will gain access to transportation resources and find answers to vital questions that allow them to confidently and independently navigate the city.
