“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

A painting based on interviews with 5 different sex workers. All of the sex workers are somewhat religious. From the interviews I had, there was one thing apparent to me - while confident in who they are and not ashamed of their careers, they wanted to feel appreciated and wanted to feel godly. This painting was inspired by my admiration for their passion and vulnerability. I wanted to put the experiences I’ve been told into literal representations of God and religion. Call it the revamped Bible, if you will.

This project is created in combination with my study of media in conjunction with society theory, queer and feminism theory, and the world of entertainment. There is no intent to offend anyone from any religion, nor represent all experieces from sex workers. This is a representation of the 5 sex workers I interviewed, as well as my own relationship with my own faith.
