Throughout my course as an IDM student, I’ve developed a passion for UX Design. It is a field rooted in understanding humanity and studying the relationship between users and the art in front of them. I also developed a passion for my minor, Art History. The first Art History class that hooked me was Medieval Art. I was sitting in class studying Medieval manuscripts like the Book of Kells and the Lindisfarne Gospels and it dawned on me that this was the same at web typography! There was order, clarify, font consistency, appropriate kerning. Even more impressive was that they were doing this painstaking work by hand.

Flash-forward to Senior Project, I knew I wanted to do something that showcased this relationship. I wanted to highlight that the artistic renderings humans gravitate towards have been tracked back long through history, although they might be updated with some modern ideals. Think of my video as the one that plays in that back room at a museum. You just saw the real-life manuscript of the Lindisfarne Gospels and you realize a video is going to start that will contextualize the design for you. This is that video. Try to get as comfy as you can on that stiff museum bench, and enjoy.
