Dear Data is the world’s first automated dating app experience, utilizing data from your social accounts to set up a perfect digital you. Dear Data comes with an ultra intelligent AI that parses through your digital footprints and matchmakes you with you digital soulmate. Or at least it would, if the app was real. The app actually lives to serve as a social critique on the terrifying nature of data and how much of it exists about yourself without your knowledge. The goal of this project is to amplify the villainous actions of digital applications by presenting it in an “entertaining” way, such as a dating app startup. I want to bring to the forefront issues of privacy, anonymity, and human connection in the age of the digital. Who does Google think you are? And how does your real self match up to that digital version of you?
